Food review – Day Fifteen

We walked a long way for this restaurant, waited a long time for the food, they forgot my garlic bread, and our clothes smelt like fish after, but apart from that it was a nice plaice! It had a separate menu for fish pans, of which Danny couldn’t have most, so he got a fish burger, and then everyone else got a cod fish pan, a wolffish fish pan, and I got seafood pasta. And we had bread with very green pesto and butter, and a lobster soup for starters.

Food review – Day Fourteen

We had bread and meat soup for starters, and then seafood soup, black seafood pasta and lamb for mains. When we ordered a volcano dessert, we expected a cone shaped structure with sparklers and everything, so what we received was quite disappointing, but delicious. Also we got long spoons.

Food review – Day Twelve

We ate at a place near the hotel, and we were so hungry we all chose the same thing, a really good chicken burger. And a lot of beer! Oh, and we tried pickled herring for a starter. Not a fan!

Food review – Day Eleven

We went to a nice farm restaurant with a little window into the barn so you could see the cows, and I even got a glass of milk from those same cows! We got a sharing player for starters and then a meat soup and three burgers for mains on very cute cow plates. It was all very nice although I wasn’t very keen on the burger bun; it was kind of like a big scone.

Food Review – Day Nine

We went to a random cafe near the hotel, but it was cheap so we liked it. We were very tired and not capable of much decision so we all picked a burger, and it was delicious! There was a monstrous amount of cake and it seemed rude not to have any, so we picked chocolate and pear cake, a cinnamon roll and a doughnut, all very good. The Icelandic men shouting at the football really added to the experience.

Food Review – Day Eight

We ate at a different hotel from the one we are staying at, and the menu consisted of seafood and vegan stuff, so Danny opted for chicken from the kids menu since he didn’t fancy getting poisoned. We got two prawn salads and avocado humus to share, which were both very nice! Then Danny got raspberry sorbet and I got the biggest crème brulée known to mankind.

Food Review – Day Six

We ate in the hotel restaurant two nights in a row which was very fancy, and we had a mixture of pork belly, torched cod and celeriac and sweet potato gratin throughout the two nights. The food was very good although I wasn’t sure about the caviar with the pork, and when I asked for orange juice and lemonade I got a weird neon orange fizzy thing, which was an experience I don’t wish to repeat.

Food Review – Day Five

We ate at a recommended black crust pizza place (which I thought was a tad counterproductive because burning) and we got three pizzas to share with breadsticks as well.

I’m not even going to try to remember the flavours so: one was duck, one was lots and lots of cheese, and the other was chorizo and weird blobby things. Despite the odd combinations, they were delicious!

And the crust wasn’t burned!

Food Review – Day Four

Mila – chicken waffle

Danny – burger

Jo – chicken waffle

Keith – burger

The restaurant was attached to a brewery and seemed quite popular, and apparently the burgers were AMAZING, but the mixture of spicy chicken and sweet waffle were very confusing.

Completely unrelated, but the plumbing in iceland is very vicious!! I nearly got decapitated by the shower!!!

Food Review – Day Three

Mila: Burger with weird potato salad thing

Danny: ditto

Keith: ditto

Jo: Icelandic fish gratin

We ate in the hotel restaurant, not very fancy, but nice food, and we also got a yoghurt cake to share for dessert.
